Oneworld Emerald (OWE) Lounge Access Guide

Oneworld Emerald (OWE) is the alliance's highest frequent-flyer tier. Eligible Emerald members can use First Class, Business Class or frequent-flyer lounges when departing on a flight marketed and operated by a oneworld member airline, regardless of cabin. Airline- and lounge-specific exclusions apply.

Emerald is notable because the alliance policy permits access to eligible First Class lounges as well as Business Class and frequent-flyer lounges, even when flying economy. It is not universal access: the operating and marketing carrier, location and lounge exclusions matter.

You earn Emerald by reaching a participating oneworld airline's qualifying top tier. Requirements, eligible activity and status-match offers change frequently, so use the programme's current published qualification rules rather than relying on a fixed 'easiest' path.

Eligible First Class lounge options depend on the airport and your flight. Check the oneworld lounge finder and the operating airline before travel. Notably, oneworld's policy directs Emerald members flying economy in Doha to Qatar Airways Platinum Lounges, not Al Safwa First Lounge.

Usually, yes: the alliance policy covers eligible Emerald members departing on a flight both marketed and operated by a oneworld member airline, regardless of cabin. One guest is allowed only when also traveling on a marketed and operated oneworld flight. Arrivals lounges, spa and pre-flight dining facilities, British Airways Concorde lounges and other listed exceptions are excluded.

Emerald's alliance policy includes eligible First Class lounges, while the practical value of any tier depends on your routes, the lounges serving them and each alliance's published exclusions. Compare policies for the trips you actually take.

You must be departing on a flight both marketed and operated by a oneworld airline. Your guest must meet that same flight requirement. Arrivals lounges, spa and pre-flight dining facilities, BA Concorde lounges and some named airport/airline exceptions are excluded; lounges may also restrict access at busy times. AAdvantage and Alaska/Atmos members have additional North America restrictions.
